Team Motivation: Working Inside the Egg

Guest Speaker

Ross Martin & Lynn Harrison, Black Tusk Leadership

Description
As leadership coaches and consultants, Black Tusk Leadership has worked extensively with all kinds of leaders, executive groups and project teams.

What we consistently notice is that there is often a tremendous amount of leadership leverage that goes untapped as leaders and teams work diligently toward their objectives.

The leverage that we are referring to comes from being able to work with the powerful forces that operate inside each member of every team. These inner elements have a huge bearing on the performance of that individual and the team. As many team leaders and project team members hold their primary focus on external factors, such as checklists, schedules, budgets, milestone reviews, RACI charts, and so on, (all good things by the way), they often miss - or even dismiss – the presence of elements less visible to the eye. These internal factors, which may include personal goals, values, beliefs, feelings, and aspirations, to name just a few, exist kind of like an iceberg, where only a small proportion is apparent on the surface. And, yet, what is beneath the waterline is both substantial and important to human behaviour and team performance.

In our presentation, “Working Inside the Egg”, we hope to raise your awareness about this overlooked leverage area and introduce a powerful and practical skill that will enable you to tap into this less visible inner territory without making a mess.
